Powerbuilder 7 rebuild issue in windows 10

$

I'm still on PowerBuilder 7, in the process of upgrading to the higher versions.  I've recently acquired a Windows 10 notebook computer.  PowerBuilder 7 runs fine, except at the point of Building the EXE, with using the 'Full' or 'Incremental' mode.  At the end of the rebuild, everything looks normal, the .PBD are generated.  However, it just won't generate the EXE file.  But that happens only occasionally, maybe 2 out of 5 times.

Has anyone encountered this and any idea how to resolve it.

If i am migrating SQL Anywhere then what are the things that i need to change/Upgrade, i mean does it require to change PowerBuilder version or code also ?

How to use assembly created by PB.NET 12.6 in .NET 2.0

Hello,

We have an application in PB8 and a web application with VS2005. This web application is using DW.NET 2.5 to print the reports created by PB8. Now we upgrade PowerBuilder to version 12.6. The reports created in PB12.6 cannot be imported by DW.NET 2.5 anymore.

I try to create a project .NET Assembly in PB.NET. I also register this assembly as COM component with command REGASM and GACUTIL. But in web project, I cannot reference to this assembly. It’s a newer version of .NET framework and cannot add to VS2005. It does not appear also in the list of COM component in Add Reference popup.

How can I use this assembly in VS2005 with .NET 2.0?

Richard

Questions about adding PB licenses and contact list

1. How do you go about adding an additional PB license in the SAP days? we tried several dead end #s. CIC doesn't seem to care for a single additional license. Please help. We do pay annual contract to Sybase, now SAP.

2. One more problem we have is that, the contact list we had with Sybase is so outdated the original developers are gone and I am trying add myself to it, they are giving a run around. Our infrastructure is on the Sybase contact list, when he called CIC, they told him to find the main SAP contact here at the customer site (they wouldn't tell us or gave the wrong name). City of Los Angeles is such a large org. it's going to be hard to find that. Does anyone have any suggestion for this bind we are in?

I just tried an online chat with SAP support. Though it comes up quickly and the person was cordial, it was a useless chat. He sent me a # for volume sales. I will try, but I wonder if the volume sales person will be laughing at our one or 2 extra license request.

Note: We used Compucomm to purchase our licenses in the past, but even they are not able to figure this out.

Thanks

Sam

Crystal XI R2 RDC ViewReport function does nothing in Powerbuilder 12.6

I have recently migrated a 32-bit Windows application from Powerbuilder 12.5 (classic) to Powerbuilder 12.6 (classic). It uses Crystal XI R2 RDC to print reports. All calls to the OLE objects to set properties as well as the calls to connect to the database and verify the report work properly as they did in Powerbuilder 12.5, but the "ViewReport" function of the viewer object does nothing. It does not show any activity on the SQL server and stays completely blank on the Powerbuilder window.

The code is split up into multiple functions so I cannot post it here, but I can certify that it runs on the same computer with Powerbuilder 12.5, so it should not be a configuration issue or an issue with the Crystal DLLs. The code used is very similar to the examples often provided on this forum and in Crystal RDC documentation.

Is there a compatibility issue in Powerbuilder 12.6?

Hi,

Recently I migrated PB11.5 application to PB12.6 classics. the migration was done successfully. Then I deployed the application successfully.

While running the standalone exe fro bin, It is not working. also it is not giving any error message also.  However when I checked the event log i got following description :

Faulting application name: ems.exe, version: 3.40.0.0, time stamp: 0x4e2f7268

Faulting module name: PBVM115.dll, version: 11.5.1.5032, time stamp: 0x4e2f72e8

Exception code: 0xc0000005

Fault offset: 0x00138151

Faulting process id: 0x1c48

Faulting application start time: 0x01d13c747058e2fc

Faulting application path: D:\Ems For Windows_12.6\Bin\ems.exe

Faulting module path: D:\Ems For Windows_12.6\Bin\PBVM115.dll

Report Id: ae0d2238-a867-11e5-8f42-a41f727c82cd

Then I went to following path :

C:\Program Files (x86)\Sybase\Shared\PowerBuilder

and copy all the dlls related to 12.6 and put in the bin folder. Still I am getting same error. Which mean My Application Exe is still referring the PBVM115.dll.

I am stuck as not able to deployed the application.

Please suggest the solution. let me know if any more information is required.

PowerBuilder 12.5.2 error: Cannot find valid license. Cannot connect to license server system

I installed Sysam 2.3 on Windows 7 Virtual machine and we created served license for PowerBuilder 12.5.2.

I copied this license to c:\sybase\sysam-2\license folder. After that I started PowerBuilder 12.5.2 installation and I received error: Cannot find valid license. Cannot connect to license server system.

What could go possibly wrong?

Our Sysam is installed on the same virtual workstation where I'm trying to install PowerBuilder. This workstation doesn't have any software except Sybase 12.0.1 / SQL Anywhere 12 /32 bit standalone installation, MS Office 10, and Oracle client 12.0.1.

PowerBuilder 12.5.2 served license has host id and computer name. If somebody had this issue?

connect from PB 12.5 to . net web service using password protected certificate

InfoMaker Conditional Formatting - Multiple Fields in an IF statement

Hi

First time posting to the Group.  Thanks for having this resource available.

I am trying to create a conditional format, turning the font red for a field, I want to test two fields at once for the condition to be true.

IF(dateafter(promise_date,today()) < 2 AND disposition = 'D', rgb(255,0,0),0)

This expression does not pass the Verify test.

How do you test two fields at once using the Conditional Formatting popup?

I could not find any examples in the Manual where multiple fields were tested in Conditional Formatting.

I'm familiar with CASE, can I use an "AND" in a CASE statement?

This works in SQL but not in the Conditional Formatting popup.

Thanks

Adam

Hi all

I have installed Sysbase 12.5.2. The Installation goes fine without any errors.

Now, I would like connect with a Oracle Database 11g 64 Bit, the Oracle Client is also 64 Bit.
a) The PB – Database Profile – is ORA Oracle
b) Server, Login ID(Oracle User) are correct

But, I can't connect to the Database with PB (with sqlplus, Toad etc. form Oracle everything works fine)
The error Message is: Oracle Library OCI.DLL could not be loaded

Trace Log:
/*---------------------------------------------------*/

(30ffcb8): SHUTDOWN DATABASE INTERFACE:(DBI_SHUTDOWN_INTERFACE) (0.002 MS / 257003.965 MS)

Question: Is PB 11.5.2 not usable with Oracle Client 64 Bit or what's the problem with the connection?

thanks for feedback

PowerBuilder 12.5.1 64bit Oracle 11g connection issue

$

All,

I want to preface this by stating the only reason we are using .net vice Classic is .net's ability to create a 64bit application.

So, I have successfully migrated our legacy PB code to 12.5.1 .net. I can successfully deploy both a 32 and 64 bit executable.

The problem is the connection to our Oracle 11g database in the 64bit mode ('Transaction not connected'). No problem connecting with the 32bit app.

I've read for 64 bit applications I need to use ADO.net for database connections. I'm going to chase that down now, but if anyone has experienced this and can save me some time, that would be awesome.

Thanks

Hi,

Can someone point me to the page from where I can download PB 12.6 and also manage my licenses.

I've been looking for the download/management page while being connected with my account on the SAP website and I can't find it.

Thank you.

installing powerbuilder on a remote server for two developers

$

Recently, our company was purchased by another company.  Soon, we will have to move our PB 12.5 instance to a remote server.  Two developers will need development access to our 12.5 product code.  Each developer will have a unique SSO login to the remote server. They will be accessing the remote PB instance using RDP through the company VPN.  Generally, they do not need access to PB at the same time.  What's the best way to install PB in this situation?

Thank you,

Doug
