I thought I posted late last night, but can't find it... sorry if this is a re-post.
I have PB 12, and SQL Server 2008 (soon to be 2012). I would like to add document embedding and retrieval to my app (ideally, just pdf documents, no editing and re-saving necessary), but not sure how to do that. I created a test table that has a varbinary(max) field to contain the attached document, along with an identity column and a few descriptor fields.
My app should have either menu options or buttons (undecided) for the following:
1. Attach Document (allows user to search for a document anywhere on the local computer or network, then save the document to the database)
2. View Attached Document (allows user to click on the "link" in the datawindow to retrieve what has been saved)
3. Delete Attached Document (removes document from the database)
I'm thinking it involves OLE 2.0, but not sure. Is that even a viable technology these days?!
